This is exactly the kind of hotel we like here at Myanmar Trains: inexpensive, independently run, English language spoken well, good WiFi, simple comfortable rooms and most importantly less than 100 metres from the train station. The 79 Living Hotel Mandalay only has 25 rooms, but they still manage to provide a wide range of services within the hotel such as buffet breakfast and tour booking. This hotel is probably the most popular hotel with foreign visitors for this price range in the train station are. The rooftop restaurant serves Myanmar, Chinese and Western food with views of the city.
You get a lot for your money at the Shwe Ingyinn Hotel Mandalay. The hotel has a spa, fitness centre and an impressive rooftop bar and restaurant. This hotel was last renovated in 2013 and the rooms look good with the normal 3 star facilities, free WiFi and tea/coffee maker included. The room rate also includes an Asian breakfast buffet.
